May First Saturday Mass & Crowning of Mary 2013

This Saturday, May 4th., 2013 is our First Saturday Mass for the month of May. Confession will be between 11:00-11:30, Low Mass will begin at 12 noon.

This Sunday, May 5th, after Mass the girls in our Little Flowers group will crown Mary in a traditional May crowning procession.Girls are invited to dress up for Our Lady and bring flowers.
After Mass, all girls of the parish (including those not part of the Little Flowers group) may follow Fr. Milich out after the recessional and receive his blessing along with the altar servers.  They may then proceed to lay flowers at the feet of the statue of Our Lady in front of the Chapel while we sing hymns to Mary. Lyric books will be provided. After the crowning, Fr. Milich will lead us in the Angelus.
Because we are honoring Our Lady this Sunday, folks are encouraged to bring picnic food for a potluck lunch on following the crowning.

Latin Mass Community of St. Mary Magdalen's new home

Our friends from the Latin Mass Community of St. Mary Magdalen sent this note to Archbishop Gomez regarding their recent move from Mission San Buenaventura:

Your Excellency,
I just wanted to let you know that we have successfully moved from the Mission in Ventura to St. Mary Magdalen chapel in Camarillo. We had 275 people on our first Sunday (Palm) and 205 on Easter. So, we have doubled in size from our typical 90-110 at the Mission.
We are feeling welcome in our new home! Many newcomers say that they have never been to an Extraordinary Form Mass and were very moved at the reverence and beauty of this ancient form of the Roman Rite.

Latin Mass Charities

Our Chaplain Fr. Milich mentioned in his sermon this past Sunday that as a community we tithe a portion of our collection to local charities. He also mentioned that as individuals, as families, we should have a charity that we regularly support. Here is the list of the charities, with links, that our community currently supports on a monthly basis, charities that help the most needy in our area. These charities have many different opportunities for helping out, seasonally or on a regular basis:

Saint Francis Soup Kitchen - food and care for the poorest in the community.
Jesus Mary Joseph Home - shelter for homeless women, children and the terminally ill.
Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes - food pantry and kitchen to feed, serve, and support the hungry, including working poor families, migrant farm workers, and elderly, disabled, and homeless individuals.
